CDS 2019: Exam Date, Pattern and Eligibility

CDS (Combined Defence Services) is an exam for young men and women to join any of the three wings of Defence services. The exam is conducted by UPSC twice a year. As per the official calendar of UPSC, CDS 2019 will be conducted in February and September.



For the CDS-2019 exam, candidates need to satisfy the following eligibility criterion.



  • Candidate should be a citizen of India.
  • Candidates from Nepal, Bhutan, Refugee of Tibet and people of Indian origin who migrated from Sri-Lanka, Pakistan and East African countries are also eligible.


Academic eligibility


For IMA and OTA

Graduation degree from any recognized university/institution.

For Air Force Academy (AFA)

Graduation degree (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) or B.Tech.

Indian Naval Academy (INA)

Engineering degree from a recognized university/institution.


Age Limit

For OTA, the candidates need to be 25 years of age and for admission into other academics, the candidate of age 20 to 24 years will be eligible.


Application Process

Interested candidates need to visit the UPSC official site and enter the Examination Tab. Under the examination tab, register for the CDS exam. After the registration, fill in the application fee. Click here to apply online.


Application Fee

Fee details are as follows:

General and OBC category candidates will pay the application fee of Rs 200.

The candidates under reserved category candidates and females are exempted from the application fee.


Exam Pattern

There will be a written offline exam with multiple choice questions. There is negative marking and 1/3rd of the marks will be deducted for the wrong answer.

Interview Pattern

Services Selection Board (SSB) conducts the intelligence and personality test for the selected candidates who qualify the CDS written exam. SSB is conducted in two stages:

Stage1: This stage comprises the Officer Intelligence Rating, Picture Perception, and Descriptive tests.

Stage2: This stage comprises the interview, psychology test, Group tasks, and conference.

CLAT 2019 Exam Date, Pattern and Eligibility

CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) is a national level law entrance exam which is conducted for offering admission into undergraduate law programs. CLAT 2019 will be conducted by National Law University, Odisha. NLU will conduct the CLAT for 21 NLUs around the country filling around 2600 seats.



Candidate must have passed 10+2 board examination through a recognized board with minimum 45% marks. The minimum percentage for SC/ST candidates is 40%.

Each right answer will carry 1 mark and 0.25 marks will be cut for every wrong answer.

How to Apply

Documents to attach with the online form

Following documents are required to be uploaded with the online application form.

  • 10+2 exam mark sheet.
  • Birth certificate or Passport.
  • High school mark sheets.
  • Signatures (in prescribed size).
  • Recent colored passport size photo.
  • Category Certificate for the reserved category candidates.
  • Domicile certificate under state quota (if applicable).



Application Fee

For General Category and OBC candidates, the fee is Rs 4000.

SC, ST category candidates will have to pay Rs 3500.

UGC NET 2019: Exam Date, Pattern and Eligibility

UGC NET (University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test) is conducted by NTA (National Test Agency) to confirm the eligibility of the aspirants for the position of Assistant Professor, Junior Research Fellowship or both. The examination will be conducted by NTA twice a year.

Academic Eligibility

  • Candidate should have a master’s degree from a recognized university with minimum 55% marks. The reserved category candidates should have 50% of minimum marks.
  • Candidates who completed their master’s degree on or before September 1991 or those who have a Ph.D. degree are given relaxation of 5% marks.
  • Candidates can appear in their qualifying exam only.


Age Criteria

  • There is no upper age limit for candidates appearing for Assistant Professor Position.
  • Candidates who are applying for JRF should have the upper age limit of 30 years. Candidates with research experience, female candidates and those who come under reserved category get a relaxation of 5 years.


Exam Pattern

UGC NET exam is conducted twice a year. The exam is conducted in two steps.

Candidates are evaluated on Comprehension, Reasoning ability, General Awareness.
